Wrap it Up

Just to Wrap Up everything from what I have learned in the Wiki Edits.
- I'll start with my Greys Anatomy Edit. I realize now that doing a TV show would be alot harder than any other things. For the most part i thought I could edit what was going on with the show as the season went by, However to my dismay I found those posts deleted. It was very challenging trying to find some information that would stick that the article did not have already on it. After seeing one of my teammates blogs I realize now that maybe I should have used CDs from the Music played on the show.
- Galway: Galway was my favorite article by far to edit. I think just because I was in Ireland editing things that I got to see first hand and learning more about Ireland really intrigued me. I thought that this would be a hard article to edit, yet suprisingly I found it to be simple and none of my edits were deleted!
- Organic- I think that I put a lot of good information on how it benefits the consumer of ogranic food, and why if not going organic can harm the consumer. Seeing that this is an important topic I realize that I should have learned how to cite better with my work, just so people can see that it is real facts.
- Jimmy Eat World- my favorite band, was also hard to find things to edit on. Alot of the stuff I found was just people's opionions on the music or the album of the band so it made it hard to add something legitimate, but I think i did pretty well considering only one post was deleted from this on.

Overall I really did Enjoy doing this project. I think these blogs and edits really have advanced my internet skill, especially in the "html code". I hope that you will enjoy reading my edits, and the full article's on the topics I have choosen.

DealCatcher

I think that the Deal Catcher Guy was definitely my favorite guest speaker that we had this semester. I think that it is really cool how he really did start from scratch and now has come a very long way. I think it gives us UD students hope for maybe the possibililty of us accomplishing something so successful.

Bud TV

Anheuser-Busch announce that it has opened an "entertainment netowrk" called BudTV, not so much for advertising but more for product placement. The website will give them a place to present content into an affordable way. They are having seven different chanels which will offer a variety of different things. One of these channels, BudTube, really gets the consumer interavtive by allowing them to create their own Bud advertisements. They also offer a comedy channel, sports channel, and hollywood channel. I think that this sounds very interesting and I really think that Anheuser-Busch can not fail in doing this. Everything is becoming more internet associated these days and I think people will be very interseted in seeing what this company has to offer, which it clearly is more technologically ahead than its competition.

Google's New Search

Google is introducing a new "Universal Search" which will bring listings not just from the news but list the news, videos, links, books, etc. all together under one search. John Battelle states that "even though others have done, this since, google is the market leader, it will get the credit for what others have done." I think this new search sounds intersting and exciting I am glad to get to see what will come up when I search on google.

Last Organic Edit

As always, I am trying to edit the benefits of Organic food section. I talked about how Dr.'s are concerned with children especially these days when it comes to food consumption. For instance just a one year old eats seven times the amount of grapes, pears and carrots, than an average adult. Apples and Strawberries are targets as well. And studies have shown that young kids drink 20 times the amount of apple juice than adults. These are raising a huge concern with doctors because of the high amount of pesticdes the kids are being exposted to which can hinder their health. Here is the organic website: ORGANIC FOOD WIKI ARTICLE

4th Jimmy Eat World Edit

For my Last Jimmy Eat World Post, I decided to edit the "Next Album" section of the Wiki Article. I think this is important to keep the readers up to date on the latest news of what is going to come out next. JEW has announced on their website that they are releasing a "mixtape" on the 28th of May, looks like the end is almost near for their new album. JIMMY EAT WORLD'S WIKI ARTICLE

Fourth Galway Edit

For my Fourth Galways Edit I decided to add more to the theatre section of the Wikipedia Article. Wikipedia had mentioned 2 famous Theatres in Galway, yet had failed to mention one last popular one. I wrote about the Town Hall Theatre Galway, for my latest Galway entry. This Theatre has been around for a little over a decade and has been very popular by covering my different aspects of perforamnce, from the regular musicals to even the ballet. I thought it was interesting to read about, and therefore I decided to edit Wiki for it. If you want to go see the edit, and the Galway article in general go HERE

Third Grey's Edit

For my final Grey's Anatomy Edit, I decided to comment on what lies ahead for season 4. The finale had left many people questioning what is going to happen next. When seeing a TV Guide Editor's blog, I had found him commenting on Shonda Rhimes' (Creator of the show), blog about the season finale. She does leave clues sayin that Derek's path will be interesting, and also it will be good to see Mark stand on his own. I really dont know what this means, but I am soo excited for next season!

Open Source is Here to Stay

I just saw an article about Open Source, and since we learnd about it in class I thought I would read this article. If open source was not here, as some people wish it wasnt, the internet would just dissappear because alot of domain servers are open source. For instance over 60% of internet sites are powered by Apache, an open source server. I knew what open source was because of class and the notes, but I really had no idea how important it is and how powerful it is to the internet.

Teachers faking Gunman attacks

I just recently red an article through Global Neighborhoods about teachers trying to fake gunman attacks. They were from an ELEMENTARY school in Tennessee. The students were on a week long trip, and on a thursday evening the teachers pretended that there was a Gunman out on the loose and that everyone's lives were at stake. These teachers made their students really believe in it, as it was reported that many were scared for their lives and crying. I think that this is outrageous, not just because of the idea, but beacuse the teachers did this to poor 11 year olds who do not know any better, and were probably going to be shaken up over the whole thing for a very long time. I hope that the principal fires all of the teachers who were involved.

3rd Galway Edit

For my third Galway post I made up my own section for museums, since I did not see it underneath the cultural section. I decided to do this because recently Galway decided to open up their own museum that will show alot about their heritage and have features from famous Irish artists from the 20th century. I think that this is important to their culture and needs to be updated for those researchign Ireland to know about, perhaps it can be useful if they are trying to figure out activities to do on their expenditures to Galway.

3rd Organic Edit

Of coures there are many different benefits that are stated about Organic Food, which is why most of my Organic Edits are about the health benefits from eating organic food, or the harmful effects of eating food that is not organic. This post I talked about, harmful effects of eating foods with pesticides. For expecting mothers even the tiniest bit of pesticide in their food can contribute to them have a 30% higher change of premature births. Also this can restrict nutrients for the fetus which can effec their metabolism and indirectly lead up to childhood obesity.

3rd Jimmy Eat World Edit

OKay, so I decided to add a little bit more about the type of music Jimmy Eat World is. It is called "emo" or emocore. The term came baout in the 1980s because bands decided to stop using such harsh and violent music. They were now starting to be more "emotional" in their lyrics, hence the name "emo". When Jimmy Eat World entered this type of music it was around the 1990s with a new wave, called "indie rock" this type of rock was becoming more popular and soon to be the "new hip style of music".

Gasonline Prices increasing Telework

Teleworkers are increasing substantially as the result of the increase in Gasoline Prices. It is excpected for teleworkers to increase 10% annually, because of the situation with the oil industry, and becuase, obviously the increase in broadband connections. The governement is also getting in to the "teleworking" world by announcing that they too will enable more government employees to have the advantage of working from home. This will have to make changes to telework governement law which states that all government employees are ineligible unless the federal agencey where they work shows that telework is a viable option. USA today comments that the average motorist is driving a substantial amount of less miles for the first time in 26 years, due to gas prices. Noting as well that more people are taking public transportation systems.

YouTube's Stars

I went on the class required blog for "Modern Marketing" To search articles to read. I had found a short Article, called "You Tube's Stars" I clickedo on the ad to learn more. Apparantly YouTube plan's to help its most popular "artists/stars" create some moeny for the work that they've been doing. They want to make sure that these people can start to make a living off of their talent, in hopes to have others start to create their own original content as well". Although YouTube has always been against rewarding their users because they wanted to make sure people were doing it for the right reasons, not monetary ones, Youtube beleives that now it is time for them to see some rewards for the efforts they have been putting in.

Second Greys Edit

After seeing the season finale I decided to edit another article about Grey's and the questions of what is going to happen with Isaiah Washington's Character. Because of the controversy he had face earlier about him using the term "faggot" to one of his cost-stars, alot of people thought that he might be leaving the show. 2nd Jimmy Eat World

For my second Jimmy Eat World Post, I decided to talk a little bit more indepth about their album "Futures." I think that not much was said about the album itself, which is hard to believe because it was such a popular cd. I decided to go into how their lyrical style had become more sophisticated and the album as a whole was more tied together. To learn more about this album and Jimmy Eat world you can go here

2nd Organic Edit

This time I added more on the organic topic about why organic food is better for the Animals. It is important to know that animals do live a healthier lifestyle because of organic foods. So in organic farms not only is the food that they are fed 100% organic (no herbicides, pesticides, etc.) Yet the grass they Graze in is organic. It is also prohibited to use steriods on animals in these organic farms as well. To see more information about this edit go to this place

Second Ireland Post

My next Ireland Edit, was about the Music in Galway. Since Wikipedia didnt seem to emphasize much about the music I decided to add some extra in there. I talked about the Galway's Annual Music Festival, which happens every year since 1996. This year it is about the "Pirates of the Carribean".
